for a more complete DIY, u can also make a case so that the bag can be folded into it, or sew a pocket onto the bag so that the bag can be folded inside-out into it, making reference to the designs of some eco-bag . : )
p.s eco-bags, some in very very beautiful patterns, are sold at like $10 at some hawker stalls in Central.. so the frugal me, after considering the cost & time required, will not consider making a diy one : P
but i envy that u hv a sewing machine! i hv always yearned to hv one..if it is not expensive. i know some small sewing machine priced like $199, but some ppl said they broke down easily. i hv yet to find my dream machine for my sewing project ideas...

Actually I would rather to buy one if I see any in beauiful patten for saving time. But so far I couldn't see one really make me at present a bright, so I DIY with no choice.

I bought mine from 勝家, basic type costed $1xxx like 10 years before. I think now it needs near $2000 up.
I know some sewing machine in China eg 蝴蝶牌, 蜻蜓牌, those brands are famous as well but just costed around $1000.
However, pls be aware of the function, some of them can only sew single stitch, no overlock stitch (鈒骨), no chain stitch (鎖針) etc.
I suggest to buy 勝家 because it is easier to have maintenance in HK.
